Chenille Iron On Instructions
- Place the patch on the garment, then lay a towel or soft cloth on the press surface to protect the chenille pile.
- Place the garment on the heat press with the patch facing down. Chenille is pressed from behind — direct heat on the pile flattens and scorches it.
- Press at 340°F (171°C) for 20 seconds with medium-heavy pressure. If an edge lifts after cooling, turn the garment inside out and re-press for 10 to 15 seconds.

Press technique differs by material
Chenille and PVC are both pressed from behind only — direct heat on the face flattens chenille yarn and can distort moulded PVC. If an edge lifts after cooling, re-press that edge rather than the whole patch. For anything you are unsure about, ask us before you press: a patch can be re-pressed, a garment cannot be un-scorched.

Embroidered
Conventional heat press
350°F (177°C) · 15–20 seconds · Medium-firm pressure
Heat-resistant tape for placement. Flip patch on garment, cover with fabric.
IQ 360
280°F (138°C) upper / 320°F (160°C) lower · 30–45 seconds · pressure 4–6
Tape for placement. Cover with thick fabric or a silicone pad.
Pre-heat the lower platen 60 seconds, caps 20 seconds. Adjust time to fabric thickness.
Sublimation / printed
Conventional heat press
350°F (177°C) · 15–20 seconds · Medium-firm pressure
Heat-resistant tape for placement. Flip patch on garment, cover with fabric.
IQ 360
280°F (138°C) upper / 320°F (160°C) lower · 30–45 seconds · pressure 4–6
Tape for placement. Cover with thick fabric or a silicone pad.
Pre-heat the lower platen 60 seconds, caps 20 seconds. Adjust time to fabric thickness.
Chenille
Conventional heat press

Tape for placement. Cover with a Teflon sheet or parchment.
IQ 360

Tape for placement. Silicone pad or ⅛″ foam pad.
Never press the chenille pile directly — the yarn flattens. Turn the garment inside out and re-press for 10–15 seconds.
3D puff embroidery
Conventional heat press
325°F (163°C) · 20–25 seconds · Medium pressure
Heat-resistant tape for placement. Flip patch on garment, cover with fabric.
IQ 360
280°F (138°C) upper / 320°F (160°C) lower · 60 seconds · pressure 4–6
Tape for placement. Foam pad matching the patch thickness.
Never press 3D puff flat — the foam crushes. The foam pad must match the patch thickness.
PVC
Conventional heat press
320°F (160°C) · 25–30 seconds · Medium pressure
Tape for placement. Cover with a silicone pad.
IQ 360
320°F (160°C) · 25–30 seconds · pressure 2–4
Tape for placement. Bottom heater (lower platen) only.
Do not apply heat directly to PVC — bottom heat only. Adjust time to fabric thickness.
Silicone labels
Conventional heat press
350°F (177°C) · 15 seconds · Medium pressure
Can be pressed from the front or the back of the garment. Silicone does not burn.
Adjust time to fabric thickness.
Embroidered heat transfers (3D)
Conventional heat press
340°F (171°C) · 20 seconds
Press from behind: on the reverse of the garment, not on the embroidery. Peel the placement tape after pressing.
Never press on the embroidery itself. Press from the reverse of the garment only.
Woven and Leather patches: settings on request. We have not published figures for these because the floor has not supplied them, and we are not going to borrow another material’s numbers for something you will press onto a garment. Ask us and we will get them.
These are general guidelines. Heat-seal temps depend on your specific glue/backing. Run a test press on cotton, poly, and denim and adjust time as needed.
