However, for long-term durability we recommend sewing around the patch edges after ironing, especially on curved hat panels where the adhesive bond is under constant tension. For structured hats with cardboard or plastic stiffeners in the brim, sew-on or velcro backing is a more reliable choice.

Yes. Fitted caps and wool hats both take patches well. For fitted caps, sew-on backing gives the cleanest result since the curved panel makes iron-on application uneven. For wool or knit beanies, sew-on is the only reliable method as iron-on heat can damage wool fibers. We supply patches with whichever backing suits your hat material.
