In a hook-and-loop system, the 'hook' side is the scratchy, rigid plastic barbed side, and the 'loop' side is the soft textile side. Patches typically have the hook side attached to the back. The loop side is sewn onto the receiving surface — a vest, bag, or hat panel. When you say you want a Velcro patch, you want hook backing on the patch and a loop panel on your gear for it to mount to.

Yes. We sell loop field backing material that can be sewn or iron-on applied to any surface — backpacks, jackets, hats, notebook covers — creating a permanent mounting zone for Velcro patches. A 4x4 inch loop panel added to a bag creates space for four 2x2 inch patches. We can include loop field panels with your patch order. Contact us with your surface dimensions for sizing guidance.

Military and law enforcement morale patches on plate carriers and vests are the largest use case. Tactical and outdoor bags (Maxpedition, Mystery Ranch, 5.11) with built-in loop fields are popular for civilian Velcro patch collections. Cap patches with Velcro attachment (replacing rigid cap emblems) are growing in streetwear. Yes. Hat-mounted Velcro patches replace the standard snap or embroidered emblem on structured caps. The cap's front panel needs a loop surface — many Richardson 112, 511 Tactical, and Viktos caps come with built-in loop fields. For caps without a built-in loop, we can supply a loop square that is ironed or sewn onto the cap front. The patch then attaches and detaches freely, allowing you to rotate your cap patch collection.

There is no minimum order at Panda Patches. A single custom Velcro PVC patch is fully welcome. That said, per-unit cost drops significantly at 10, 25, and 50 pieces. For military units, first responder companies, or retailer restocking, ordering at the 25-50 piece tier provides the best balance of price and quantity.
