Pantone (PMS) thread matching
Pantone thread matching is the step where a Pantone (PMS) colour from a brand guide is translated to the nearest available embroidery thread. Thread is a fixed palette — a factory picks a cone, it cannot mix one — so every match is an approximation measured as a colour distance (ΔE), never an exact equivalent.

Illustration — not a photograph of a specific order.
From our production data
Of the 719 Candle thread codes we run, 155 (21.6%) sit within ΔE 3 of a Pantone Coated colour — close enough that most people can't tell them apart — and 552 (76.8%) within ΔE 6. Median distance is ΔE 4.5. Our chart covers 407 distinct Pantone Coated colours as a nearest match.
When to choose it — and when not to
Give us the Pantone code when your brand guide has one — we match it and show the ΔE on the mockup.
Skip the Pantone step if you already have thread codes from a previous run, or if the colour is metallic or neon, which are matched by eye on the floor. Never approve a critical colour from a phone screen; ask for a cone photo.
